01/03/23 Employee Spotlight: Jay Powell

This week's employee spotlight is Jason Powell! Jason (or Jay for those that know him 😉) has been with us since February 2019, which means his 5-year anniversary is right around the corner.

Jay started at the wash pad and worked his way up to getting his CDL and driving a garbage truck in 2020. He now has a route with regulars that absolutely love him (especially the pups 😁). Jay is an exemplary employee who is always looking out for safety issues, mastering the equipment needed for his job, and taking great pride in his performance. He is known for being a friend to all and we appreciate his consistent hard work and cheery attitude towards what most would consider a tough job!

Here are some fun facts about Jay:

• What made you decide to work at NLSS?

I was offered a job and I was more than happy to accept because I had heard nothing but great things about the company. ❤

• What's your favorite memory while working here?

I don't know about one single memory, but my favorite moments are definitely feeding the dogs on my route. It always makes my day. 🐶

• What are your hobbies?

Hanging out with my loved ones (especially my cats) and also, working out at the gym 💪

• Want to tell us about your family?

My family is very close and supportive. My immediate family all lives here in Lincoln City, so I get to see them on a weekly basis.

• What's your favorite thing about living on the coast?

The scenery is beautiful here, it makes work that much better. 🌊

• How do you you get involved in your community?

I was able to coach Boxing classes earlier this year at Point Break Fitness, which was a lot of fun. I'd like to do it again next year. My Fiancé and I also love supporting the Backpacks For Kids Program here in town. 🥊
