North Lincoln Sanitary Service had yet another truck fire today due to lithium-ion batteries being improperly disposed of in the curbside garbage. This is the 2nd truck fire we’ve had due to batteries in the last 4 months.
Thankfully, North Lincoln Fire Rescue were able to escort our truck and driver to the transfer station where we were able to spread it out on the ground and get it put out.
This is yet another reminder of the extreme importance of NEVER putting any kind of battery into the curbside garbage, recycling, or mixed compost. Please bring all batteries to our Recycling Center (1726 SE Hwy 101) to be recycled properly free of charge. This could have been much worse & we count ourselves lucky.
